This blog was formerly dedicated in 2009 to my Dad who died of Alzheimer's in 2013. It's been three years now...and I find myself missing blogging...so I am re-inventing my blog... because, after all, life is about moving through, and going forward...

SURVEY: I Would Appreciate Your Opinion...(2nd post today)

What do you prefer when commenting on blogs... Would you rather have a reply back by email or would you rather go back to the post where you left your comment for an answer?

Generally, when one of you leave me a comment after my post, I email back to you, rather than answering in the comment section...unless we are having a discussion...but I noticed lately, I have almost exclusively been emailing back directly. I also have noticed my comments have slacked off...maybe not seeing my comments after every one's comment, gives the impression I don't respond.? Or is everyone just busy?

I am interested in your opinions and input... thanks!

I really prefer the e-mail back. It takes more time to come back, plus then I have to remember what blog it was!
I've noticed the comments always seem to slow down this time of year, and as we go into summer there are more people taking blog breaks.
I'll be interested in what others think.

I was wondering that as well. Which way is better?
For me, I like that you reply in an email and I do it that way too. But I¨ve noticed on some blogs that they reply back in the comments. For me, that´s really time consuming, to go back and check for a reply. I´d rather receive an email from the blog writer.

I think it is great that you email back after someone leaves a comment, Donna; that is a nice practice to do (and one I obviously don't do). Personally for me, I rarely come back to a post after I leave a comment to see if someone responded to my comment so to get an email would be my preference. However, if you decide to respond back to comments via your blog, let me know and I'll make it a practice to check back. It is cyclical with blogging and I think people are busy this week with Easter, etc. I know there are less blogs for me to read on my Dashboard, which means people aren't adding new entries like they used to.

hope this helps with your survey, but whatever you ultimately do, it should be what works best for you :)

Whatever is easiest for you! Remember it's your blog. I do appreciate the emails.
I typically try to go back if I asked a question or with certain blogs that I want to see other responses.
I wish I got more comments, but I seem to have few. When I check Maploc I am floored sometimes of my traffic. My Sis, Besties, family..usually contact me by email or call. Rarely leave comments.
Interesting to me how some blogs get hundreds of followers. I have my 76 that I am so grateful for. I am sure many no longer follow & just haven't deleted. And others that don't publicly follow me, will let me know when they chat with me how much they enjoy reading my blog.

I think everyone is busy! Personally, I've found since I started blogging, that a far better relationship builds up betwee those who 'talk' in emails.
It may be fine for bloggers who only follow a few people, but going back to read comments is a very long winded way of going about things...And evrybody has the option of clicking to follow comments on a blogpost, if they want to see other's views.
So my vote is YES to email replies, every time! :)

I always reply to my visitors in the comments section of my blog. As a visitor myself, if I'm interested to hear what the blog owner might say in response to my comment, I'll check the "Email follow-up comments to:" box and watch for the comments to appear in my email.

A big complaint among many who respond to comments via email only, is that not everyone is set up with a reply-to email address on their comment form. So it may appear that you're hitting "reply" and responding to that individual but their email address appears as "noreply-comment@blogger.com" and your carefully crafted response goes into cyberspace.

I know that if anyone really wants to see what I've had to say in response to their comment, that they know I've been replying on my blog for years, and they'll return.. or not. The choice is theirs.

Thank you everyone for your input. It is easier for me to email back, but Hilary shared with me about ticking the box below the comment box for follow up comments to be emailed...so I am looking into that...

I will comment in the comment section to thank everyone and to join in on discussions or answer questions, unless it is more of a private nature, then I will email you back.

Hi Donna. I always read my comments in the comment box after my posts, and then I reply to that comment. I often wonder whether people bother to actually come back in to see what I have said! There's no way of knowing really. I always like to get your e mail in response to my comments on your blog. Sometimes I reply to people who do that and realize that I have wasted my time, because they are using a no-reply e-mail address!

Oh! I've put your blog button on my sidebar by the way!

You don't have to respond to my comments unless I ask you a question. In that case, I'd prefer an e-mail because I never go back to a post that I've read already.

I like emails - I really don't come back to the blog so I would miss it. Plus you can 'talk' better and maybe develop a good friendship via email.

E-mail. That's how I do it. I don't have time to go back and read past posts to see if they answered. (I don't have time to keep up with current postings!) I even have a note on my blog that says if you don't have an e-mail associated with your comment, I will not reply. I simply do not have the time.

There needs to be a blog handbook with instructions! Have a great day.
