I called this morning to speak to my Dad,
He was in Bible Study.
They told me to call back in an hour and a half.
I called back after lunch,
And now he is asleep...
I was told to call back between 1:30pm and 2:30pm
I will try,
but then they will be passing out meds
and too busy to take the phone to him.
Or, he will still be asleep.
The last time I called and woke him up,
he fell asleep on me mid conversation...
THIS IS THE PITTS!
This is so frustrating...
I want to talk with my Dad...
We don't know from one day to the next,
how long we will have him.
I miss you Dad.
I love you Dad.
I am thinking of you Dad.
I wish I could hold your hand...
I wish I could feel your arms around me, in one of your hugs...
I don't want you to leave...
but I don't want you to stay,
to be swallowed whole by this insidious, evil, disease of Alzheimer's...

My Mom's in a nursing home too. Between meals, exercise class and her regular naps, there are really only 2 windows of opportunity to phone her -- 1:00-1:30 pm and 6:00-7:00 pm. It just means I have to rearrange my schedule a bit to make my daily phone calls during those times. That's just how it is!
thinking of you.. i can imagine how hard this is for you and your family!! .. sure wish you were closer to where he is , so you could spend the time that you want with him..sending you strenght... this alzhiemers thing is horrible.. i hate what it does to the folks we love...
