Remember the sad news from my February 9th post, Sad news for Montelago Village at Lake Las Vegas?
The news last night reported The Montelago is now shutting down March 14, 2010. 177 more jobs will be lost. The Montelago is the only gaming facility at Lake Las Vegas and in my opinion, the two best restaurants.
The word is 91% of the retail shops are still open and doing well. Let's hope the Loews Hotel survives, so visitors can still come to relax and enjoy Lake Las Vegas. The locals visit Lake Las Vegas, because it is a nice way to spend the day. They also sponsor several events that bring in business and visitors.
Personally, this is so sad. We have such great memories of special celebrations with friends and family at the restaurants at Montelago. They gave out some really great gifts for playing in the Casino. The staff were so friendly and the service was always excellent.
We have company coming the end of the month and we will make sure to take them there, to enjoy it one last time...

So many businesses are suffering in this awful economy. Many store fronts and restaurants closed in our area, and we live in a fairly populated shoreline community. Scarey and sad.
Hi Karen...An old farm house AND a shoreline community??? How Blessed can YOU be??? May I ask, where? If you say back east, I am even more envious. I have always wanted to go to the East coast, around Nova Scotia, Connecticut, Mass, Delaware and Rhode Island. I LOVED the house in Nights of Rodanthe (which of course was in North Carolina in the outer banks). Another place I would love to see. I think Message in a Bottle was filmed there too. Any way, thanks for stopping in to visit...you are welcome any time.
Too many businesses continue to close or suffer. It is so sad. We had a mall being built here in Elk Grove, California, and it is now a sitting skeleton of buildings. So many continue to lose jobs. I wonder when it will get better. I am thrilled that my husbands job has picked up more business as they just had another lay off. Thankful for what we have.
