This blog was formerly dedicated in 2009 to my Dad who died of Alzheimer's in 2013. It's been three years now...and I find myself missing blogging...so I am re-inventing my blog... because, after all, life is about moving through, and going forward...

I Get All My Love From Turkey...

I called Dad today and asked how he enjoyed his turkey dinner.  He raved and gushed about eating everything on his plate, wanting more and getting another plate full.  Dad loves turkey as much as he loves spaghetti.  " I get all my love from turkey!" he laughed and I could not help but laugh with him...

He made sure I knew he was kidding, and once again thanked me for finding the nursing home for him.  He always tells me how wonderful everyone is to him and how much he loves all of them.  It is music to my ears, no matter how often he tells me, because I remember how it was two and a half years ago when he first was diagnosed and had to move into a home...

Doctor-Doctor was in the room with him.  She had just given him a shower and was getting him dressed and all ready for visitors and lunch.  I told Dad to tell her hello from me, which he did and I could hear her telling me hi as well...

I had spoken with Mom earlier this morning and she told me she and my sister Holly were going to visit Dad today. I told Dad they were coming and he was excited.  He sounded so good and so upbeat, this news just added to his happiness.

Dad today during his visit with Mom and Holly

Mom and my sister arrived just before Dad was served lunch.  They took him outside on the patio of the nursing home and enjoyed the sunshine.  Dad complimented Mom on how great she looked and was so happy to see my sister.

Mom called Dad's sister on her cell and let Dad speak to her.  They had a wonderful conversation and both were so happy to talk with one another.
Mom was enjoying a good day and feeling really positive and walking without her walker.  Dad was so happy to see Mom feeling so much better.

Dad's eye still looks very red and irritated but Dad insisted it did not bother him at all.  When it was time for Dad's lunch, they hugged and kissed and said their good byes... Dad was anxious to get to the lunch table with his friends, not to mention the food...we all know how much Dad looks forward to eating!

Mom and Holly went for a nice lunch after their visit celebrating Mom feeling so much better and the great visit with Dad.

I am so very grateful Dad is happy where he is and so happy to hear how well Mom is doing.  Thank you everyone so very much for all your prayers and well wishes.

It must give you a sense of relief to know he is in good hands, and he has his yummy turkey. Your dad is fortunate that he has so many people who love him.

Lovely happy post today my dear friend. How lovely that your dad thanks you for finding the home for him, and tells you that he likes it there. That just has to make you feel so much better. He certainly looks very happy in the photo, and I am also glad to read that your mum was feeling a bit brighter today. Sending you hugs.

Dad sure does look happy, that's always good news. I just came by to check on you, to see how you're doing. I don't get to blog much anymore but, just know you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Wishing you well and hope you have a nice holiday season.
