This blog was formerly dedicated in 2009 to my Dad who died of Alzheimer's in 2013. It's been three years now...and I find myself missing blogging...so I am re-inventing my blog... because, after all, life is about moving through, and going forward...

Pick Me Up For the Parade....

Mom got another call from Dad... He demanded someone come pick him up for the parade... Mom asked which parade?...

"THE PARADE!" Dad insisted...

"If no one will pick me up, I will find a bicycle and ride there myself!"

Mom agreed... telling him not to worry...

"I have to go now and get ready..." Dad huffed...

After Mom hung up, she called me.  First off, the nursing home is suppose to call me...NOT MOM... (we go through this every couple of months it seems...)  Very concerned, worried Dad will find some way to break out again for this "parade"... She asked me to call the nursing home...

My girlfriend Jan and I were just pulling into the parking lot of Lucille's BBQ for our last dinner together...she flies back to Missouri tomorrow ( :{ ).  I dropped her off to get a table and I called the nursing home...

I spoke with the charge nurse.  She assured me Dad was sitting right in front of her at the nursing station and all was fine.  She told me she knew I was to be the first person called and did not know who was allowing Dad to call Mom, but she would look into it.  She promised to keep an eye on Dad, but assured me he would be fine.

I double checked they checked his alarm bracelet.  She told me she would.  So far, all is quiet on the nursing home front...

Glad that all is quiet on the nursing home front my friend, and I hope it didn't spoil your dinner with your friend. You will miss her :( I can imagine why you want the home to call you first though, and not your mum. It's not a very nice situation all round, is it? Take care and sending you a hug from across the pond.
