This blog was formerly dedicated in 2009 to my Dad who died of Alzheimer's in 2013. It's been three years now...and I find myself missing blogging...so I am re-inventing my blog... because, after all, life is about moving through, and going forward...

Dancing With Dad...

*** artwork by Sue Whittick at Artist's Progress***

I awoke today with the most wonderful memory...me as a barefoot little girl, standing on Dad's feet and dancing... He would make the music himself by humming or singing to me.  He made me feel so safe and loved...  I have a huge smile on my face and will wear it for the rest of the day...

I called the nursing home and was able to reach Dad.  I caught him just after breakfast and before his shower...he sounded good.  I greeted him with my signature,
"Hello my Papa-doots!!"  And he responded...
"Ahhhhhhh, my Donna Dee..."
I am over flowing with joy each time he remembers who I am without me telling him...especially since it is usually over the phone.

My husband and I will travel back to California for Thanksgiving and we both look forward to spending some time with him....

The last time Dad and I danced together was at my nephew's wedding...

Dad boogied with Mom...

He swooned the Bride..

And he rocked out with me...

I love you Papa doots!!

How sweet he looks! I can remember my mom letting me 'walk' with her-my feet on top of hers. A game we used to play when I was little....

Those kinds of memories keep me anchored when darkness threatens to overwhelm. I'm sure they do for you, too.

Happy early Thanksgiving! Have fun on your visit and be safe!
