This blog was formerly dedicated in 2009 to my Dad who died of Alzheimer's in 2013. It's been three years now...and I find myself missing blogging...so I am re-inventing my blog... because, after all, life is about moving through, and going forward...

Mom's X-Ray Results...

Mom received the results of her x-rays.  The doctor believes her pain is from compression fractures to her spine and arthritis.  The doctor gave her a pain shot, pain medication and is sending her to a pain management clinic.  She will have another x-ray and an MRI to verify the diagnosis.  They are not sure if the compression fractures were a result of her fall last April...but it is a definite possibility.

I spoke with her the last couple days, she was having a rough time with the pain medication making her feel nauseated.

Dad called Mom again.... (unbelievable!)

"Hello?"

" I wanted to tell you some important things..."

"Big things are happening around here..."

"I really am happy here and I feel GREAT!"

Mom started to tell Dad she has been nauseated from the pain medication....and Dad cut her off and continued to go on about all the things he is in charge of...

Mom asked who helped him dial the phone.

"I don't dial, I just punch in the numbers on the buttons..."  Mom was shocked to hear this, not sure to believe him, as he could not push the buttons on their home phone prior to going into the nursing home.

Mom could hear someone talking in the back ground...

"Don't interrupt me, I am on the phone..."

The phone was disconnected.

Will have to call again and have the staff find out if Dad is calling Mom on his own...

Hi Donna. That's twice that the phone has just been disconnected now, so I rather suspect that dad must be calling your mum all on his own, although that does seem a little hard to believe! Poor mum. It must be so miserable for her to have to suffer the pain, and yet most unpleasant to feel nauseous like that. Hope you are keeping well my friend.

Your poor mom, Donna. I was wondering if it was compression fractures. Sad that the pain meds are causing her side effects :(

It is also troubling the nursing home can't quite figure out how to prevent your dad from calling your mom; you'd think they would know this by now!

So sorry to hear of your Mom's compressed fractrues. My husband lives with chronic pain, and I am sure it will be for the rest of his life. It has been a life changing event for us. It is so hard to watch him suffer. Some days are better than others. I hope she can get some kind of relief, and that the nausea goes away.
